19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has achieved 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had led commentators to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
