Adolescent Found Dead Following False Allegations of Taking Ashes
One 14-year-old youth was discovered deceased only a few days after being falsely blamed of taking the ashes of a dead baby during a burglary, an inquest has heard.
Heartbreaking Discovery
Kai Lloyd's parents found his body in his room at his Connah's Quay home on November 19th, 2021.
Untrue Allegations Begin
The inquest heard how his mother got a message on November 8th, 2021 via social media, from a individual asking if her son was her child. The communication added: "Inform him appreciation for burgling my flat."
In a testimony presented to the proceedings, the mother said the woman had been in the media, claiming her infant's remains had been stolen in a burglary - a allegation which was untrue.
Law Enforcement Investigation
An official inquiry from police later determined the supposed burglary complainant had "lied to police" and "evidence shows that said items was not stolen in the first place".
News coverage about the supposed taken ashes generated online responses, and although the teenager was not identified in the posts, his mother said individuals "understood it was him".
The "social media content were really distressing", she stated.
Emotional Wellbeing Impact
She explained that Kai had been identified with mild ADHD, and as part of that condition, other peoples' opinions genuinely were important to him.
"It would have affected him severely," she commented, "especially when this was not true".

His mother said her son "became isolated" after the arrest and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had received anything from the police", because his condition meant sometimes "a minute could seem like days".
When she talked to him about the alleged burglary, she said her son informed her he had gone into the house because the resident who lived there had said he could utilize the toilet whenever he wanted, but refuted removing anything.
Digital Bullying
In a joint statement between her and her spouse, the mother said her child was being harassed online after the allegations.
The inquest heard that a young adult encouraged Kai to end his life.
She had no concerns on the evening before he passed away, describing how she had heard him "chuckling and joking".
She portrayed him as a "compassionate, loving" boy, and said her "relatives is totally shattered".
He had been "clearly concealing his worries", she stated, adding that he could not stand to have anyone "have negative thoughts of him".
Educational Response
The hearing received testimony from school personnel at the local High School.
On 8 November, she "heard some boys discussing that Kai had been detained and that was the initial I heard".
"He told me... he'd done nothing wrong," she added.
After the conversation, the educator said she called Kai's parents' landline and left a message saying she had spoken to the student about the accusations.
The court learned his parents said they did not got that message.
